We’re hiring a Program Manager!
Committee for a Better New Orleans seeks a dedicated, passionate Program Manager to join our team.
Position type: Full-time, Exempt
Schedule: 40 hours per week, with flexibility for evening and weekend programming
Reports to: Executive Director
Location: Remote (New Orleans)
Salary Range: $55,000-$65,000
Anticipated Start Date: by August 1, 2024
What we do: CBNO is a nonpartisan nonprofit working to build and empower New Orleans civic leaders. We help people find and use their voice in local democratic processes, and build a receptive, inclusive and accountable government to incorporate that voice. We take a systems approach to change, and strive to build power among the most-impacted communities. Our work will be done when New Orleanians have what they need to build equitable, sustainable and thriving communities. Our tactics include:
Education: We help people understand, navigate, and influence City decisions.
Advocacy: We advocate for local policies and practices that are transparent, accountable, and inclusive.
Connection: Our community engagement efforts build trust and forge stronger bonds within and across neighborhoods; and bridge the gaps between residents, businesses, and government.
Key Programs
Leadership Forum: Our flagship annual program, a 10-week training on local issues and community organizing and advocacy skills.
Changemaker Series - a monthly series of free civic education events for the general public; including topics such as the City Budget, working with City Council, community organizing basics, and more.
Building Our Future - Our advocacy campaign to bring in federal infrastructure funding to New Orleans, and ensure spending prioritizes equity and community input.
Better Bus Stops - Our 2024-2025 project in partnership with the Regional Transit Authority, working to overhaul New Orleans’ transit stops.
Responsibilities:
Manage and coordinate program activities, ensuring smooth execution and timely completion. Develop and deliver program plans, managing scheduling, logistics, and volunteer coordination.
Evaluate program success and engage in program strategy discussions with the Executive Director and Board to ensure our programming remains on the leading edge of what community leaders in New Orleans need.
Recruit, train, and supervise program interns and volunteer committee members; providing guidance and mentorship, and ensuring program activities are executed effectively.
Maintain programmatic budgets, submitting receipts to track expenses and ensuring efficient use of resources.
Develop and implement communication and marketing strategies to increase visibility, engagement, and support for programming. Prepare reports and presentations on program activities and outcomes for stakeholders.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with program participants, ensuring a positive and impactful experience.
Represent the Committee for a Better New Orleans at community events, coalition meetings, and public meetings when requested.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs: Minimum 3 years of experience in a non-profit, community development, or government setting, with a focus on program management, communications, or policy.
Excellent interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse audiences.Training on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), Anti-Racism, and/or experience working across differences is a plus.
Excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and messages.
A deep commitment to the mission and values of the Committee for a Better New Orleans.
Experience with the New Orleans policy landscape is a plus.
Experience supervising staff or volunteers is a plus.
